Ever Since they were first put on sale the Ford Mustang has had a loyal and enthusiastic following. Excited anticipation greets every new model that rolls off the production line. The car represents speed and style at more affordable prices than other similar cars. The 2005 Mustang Supercharger is both pleasing to look at and gives a great performance.
The design which continues to be inspired by the original models from the 1960s, giving a retro feel that is combined with state of the art technology. The revamped car was launched at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, causing a stir amongst motoring journalists and people in the industry. Subsequent reviews of the 2005 Mustang Supercharger were favorable.
Recent models contain a number of features that contribute to its appeal. There is a 3 valve 4.6 liter single overhead cam engine and a Vortech centrifugal supercharger. There is a high flow fuel pump and an optional air to water charge cooler that brings horse power up to 575hp. The live axle rear suspension system has been re-enforced to give a smoother ride but it has been reported that the car does not like to go over speed bumps and potholes etc.
What about the noise? Anyone who has ever driven a Mustang will know that the engine makes a loud and distinctive sound and the 2005 Mustang Supercharger is no exception. It is sweet music to fans of the car, who are swept away by the 0 - 60 mph achieved in 3.6 seconds. Trials showed that a maximum speed of 122mph was possible and the car is very good at cornering. Frequent gear changing is required, a small price to pay for such performance. Tires are priced at almost $300 each.
This model was nominated for the North American Car of the Year for 2005 with good reason. This GT Vortech deserved the stylish television commercial used to promote it and the result was very impressive. Taking advantage of digital technology, old footage of Steve McQueen was slotted into the commercial. Known for his love of race cars, McQueen is seen behind the wheel of a silver 2005 Mustang Supercharger, taking it for a spin on a winding road through a cornfield. The footage is taken from the iconic movie, Bullitt and the commercial also pays homage to the Kevin Costner film, Field of Dreams. The advertising tag says, the legend lives; built for the road ahead. Everyone, on seeing this, wants to be where McQueen is sitting. The 2005 Mustang Supercharger has mixed the classic with the new and produced the best of both worlds.
